Doggy Drama of 2011

If you know me, you know that I have too many lots of dogs.  We started off with one (Kelis) and now we have over 10. YES, TEN!  Well this weekend my brother-in-law Angel came over and as he was leaving, he didn't close the gate correctly.  AND our dogs are always eager to get out and if it's open even a little bit, thier asses get out! Well...that happened Saturday afternoon.  Our two oldest dogs, Kelis and Jax were gone.  I received a text from Boogie telling me what happened and of course my heart sunk.  Kelis was our first baby before Sofia.  She used to sleep with us and we really did treat her like a human.  We weren't the crazy owners that dressed them like humans and dressed them up for Halloween (although I thought about it once) but we love Kelis like she's our child.

Boogie didn't go to the casino because he had to work so he was at home dealing with the doggy drama and I was in Louisiana trying to win some money!  Anyway, when I got home that night, I immediately started crying. I walked in knowing that I wasn't going to see Jax and Kelis but it hit me as soon as I got to the door.  Kelis was a true guard dog (and nosey like me) and was always there to greet whomever came to the door.  So when I didn't see her, it was so sad!!!!!!!  And I know Boogie was even more distraught but since he's a TRUE Mexican and doesn't like talking about feelings, I didn't even bring it up.  But I could see it in his face.

So I called dog pounds and posted on Lost Dog websites and of course posted it on FB.  And of course I prayed that we would find our dogs.  Well let me tell you...GOD IS GOOD!

I was taking a nap this afternoon and I heard someone talking outside.  And since I'm nosey, I looked out the window and saw some guy talking to Cassie. I overhead him say something about "a lost dog" and I jumped out of bed!!! My heart was pounding and I couldn't find shoes (OF COURSE!).  I ran outside and saw that he had a dog crate in the back of his truck. Then I saw him take my Kelis out and he was carrying her towards me.  I immediately started crying.  I WAS SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HAPPY!!

He said he found her near the railroad tracks and he said he recognized her.  Can you believe that???  He said he knew she looked familiar and then remembered she lived here.  So he brought her home.  I am so glad that there are still good people left in this world.  Kelis is a pitbull and there are some people out there that fight them and that was one of my fears...that someone would pick her up and treat her badly.  BUT, God answers prayers and now she's back home where she belongs.

Jax is still missing. I hope he comes home soon too!!!  Keep praying for his safe return. Kelis misses her husband and the puppies miss their daddy.
